D-Star history
In August 2007, the club installed 440 MHz and 1.2 GHz D-Star voice repeaters and a 1.2 GHz D-Star data repeater at our Chicago site. The frequency for the 440 voice repeater is 442.09375 with a +5 MHz offset. The highspeed data repeater frequency is 1242.200 simplex. The 1.2 GHz voice repeater frequency is 1292.200 with a -20 MHz offset. The coverage of this system is primarily northern Cook and southern Lake counties.
The repeater and gateway are open to all, but you must be registered with the D-Star network before the gateway will accept your call.

The D-Star system, including the gateway, is open to all amateur radio operators with D-Star capabilities.
After registering, send an e-mail to our administrators to alert them that you’ve registered. If you changed callsigns, please indicate your old and new callsign.
If you are registered elsewhere and visiting Chicago (or if you are a registered NS9RC club member traveling elsewhere) you have access to just about every D-Star gateway out there, including ours!

D-Star Repeater Systems Updates
The NS9RC Gateway now has the g2_link add on (installed April 11, 2020 )
This add on allows Module A or B users to make DExtra connections
DPlus has always been operational
Here is how to use the system. Remember to
1) check the Status 1st of BOTH DPlus & DExtra , then UnLink if Linked in order to connect to desired destination
2) Setup and Teardown of D-Star flows takes time. Please allow 2 to 3 seconds between keying your radio after each transmition

To check the status of the gateway, the UR call would be: _______I (I in the eight place)
To unlink the gateway, the UR call would be: _______U (U in the eight place)
To return the gateway to the default, the UR call would be: _______L (L in the eight place)
To link to a REF reflector (example is REF030C), the UR call would be: REF030CL
DExtra (XRF) and DCS (DCS)
To check the status of the gateway, the UR call would be: _______W (W in the eight place)
To link to a XRF reflector (example is XRF038AO), the UR call would be: XRF038AO
To link to a DCS reflector (example is DCS026AO), the UR call would be: DCS026AO
To unlink the gateway, the UR call would be: _______T (T in the eight place)
BTW, for DExtra you can also sent a DTMF 99 which is the same as W
DTMF 73 as a UnLink
